The story
A demanding deduction case in a 1912 thermal spa, inspired by the spas of the Ricote Valley. The characters and the crime are fiction.
Ricote Valley, January 1912. In the depths of winter, the spa is full of wealthy invalids who come to cure their rheumatism in its waters, which spring up hot beside the river Segura.
At half past seven in the morning, the attendant for cabin 7 knocked on Don Severo Arnal's door, mine owner from La Unión, and got no answer. He was dead in the water.
The medical director, Doctor Ortín, has certified a syncope: the bath was too hot for a weak heart. The family already blames the bath attendant. The judge from Cieza gives you the day to check: at eight in the evening he will sign and the body will leave by train for Cartagena.
