The story

A case with no deaths, to play as a group in an hour. The village, the bar and the syndicate are made up; the thrill of 22 December isn't.

La Parra bar, 22 December. Since 1987, the bar's syndicate has shared a Christmas Lottery ticket among twenty members, twenty euros each. And since 1987, the ticket spends the morning of the draw pinned with a drawing pin to the corkboard behind the bar, for everyone to see.

At twenty-three minutes past eleven, the TV sings out 47,193. The jackpot. It's the syndicate's number. The whole bar erupts: hugs, tears, bottles of cava, neighbours pouring in from the street.

At twenty-five to twelve, Reme, the owner, goes to take the ticket down to photograph it… and all that's left on the corkboard is the pin with a tiny corner of paper. Nobody has left the village. Reme locks the bar door and looks at you: “You lot are clever. Find it.”
